In nondialogue writing, ending a sentence in an ellipsis rather than<br />

a period adds a certain ineffable weight <strong>to</strong> it.<br />

<strong>The</strong> effect can be <strong>to</strong> underscore a point that need not be stated<br />

explicitly,<br />

"I don't care what you do with your whiskers; I don't care what<br />

anybody does with his whiskers," said the King, still soothing his own<br />
