Chapter 4 Research Method<br />

Three interview guides were developed from the concept analysis <strong>of</strong> resident<br />

autonomy (Appendix 12). One was for staff, one was for residents and one was for<br />

residents’ families. The concept analysis revealed the attributes <strong>of</strong> resident autonomy<br />

and these was developed into a question that was a) appropriate for staff, b)<br />

appropriate for residents and c) appropriate for residents’ family members. Various<br />

probes and prompts were also developed for each question. Below is an example <strong>of</strong><br />

how the questions were developed (Figure 4.1).<br />
