Ľubica Somolayová se je rodila<br />

leta 1979 v Levicah na Slovaškem.<br />

Študirala je zgodovino in slovakistiko<br />

na Filozofski fakulteti Univerze<br />

Komenskega v Bratislavi in leta 2005<br />

doktorirala na Inštitutu za slovaško<br />

književnost Slovaške akademije znanosti<br />

in umetnosti s temo o pesništvu<br />

v obdobju romantike. Je pesnica,<br />

avtorica strokovnih sestavkov in<br />

predavateljica slovaške književnosti<br />

na Univerzi v Trnavi. Deluje tudi<br />

kot urednica v okviru mednarodnega<br />

festivala poezije »Ars Poetica«<br />

in pri istoimenski knjižni založbi.<br />

Njena prva pesniška zbirka z naslovom<br />

Prižmúrenými očami (S priprtimi<br />

očmi) je izšla v dveh jezikih: najprej<br />

v španščini v Kostariki (2006) in<br />

leto pozneje tudi v slovaščini. Bila je<br />

prejemnica štipendij projekta »Small<br />

Cultures« Univerze v Regensburgu<br />

(2004) in projekta »Mitteleuropa«<br />

Inštituta za slavistiko Tehniške univerze<br />

v Dresdnu (2005). Njene pesmi<br />

so bile prevedene v angleščino, madžarščino,<br />

poljščino, slovenščino in<br />

španščino.<br />

Ľubica Somo layová was born in 1979<br />

in Levice, Slovakia . She studied history<br />

and Slovak philology at the Faculty of<br />

Arts at the Comenius University in<br />

Bratislava and received her Ph .D . in<br />

romantic poetry from the Institute of<br />

Slovak Literature at the Slovak Academy<br />

of Sciences in 2005 . The poet, academic<br />

writer and professor of Slovak literature<br />

at the University of Trnava, is also an<br />

editor with the international poetry<br />

festival “Ars Poetica” and the publishing<br />

house of the same name . Her first collection<br />

of poetry titled Prižmúrenými<br />

očami (Eyes Half Shut) was published<br />

bilingually, first in Spanish in Costa<br />

Rica (2006), and a year later in Slovak<br />

as well . She has been the recipient of<br />

the “Small Cultures” project fellowship<br />

of the University of Regensburg (2004)<br />

and the project “Mitteluropa” grant of<br />

the Institute of Slavistics at the Dresden<br />

University of Technology (2005) . Her<br />

poems have been translated into English,<br />

Hungarian, Polish, Slovenian, and<br />

Spanish .
