TRAVEL$ENSECHAPTER 10. TAB 4 – COST ANALYSISDirect Trip CostsTab 4 displays the primary results of the Travel$ense analysis. This also is the tabusers most often return to for results. This screen is divided into three sections:• Direct Trip Costs – below• True Trip Costs – on page 99• Non-Business Hours Away from Home – on page 100All results in the Cost Analysis and Benefit Analysis tabs have pop-upexplanations activated by clicking anywhere within the field. Typically thispresents some lower-level data that was added or subtracted to produce theresult. Click in the Airline column on Cost of Air Service to see the cost andfare type of each airline ticket priced as well as the number of passengers, forexample. The Direct Trip Costs analyzes the data set in the previous three tabs, to tallyup costs for this trip. These totals are all “real numbers” or “hard dollar” itemsfor which the company has receipts or pay stubs. These numbers do not invokeuser-defined assumptions for productivity of the true value of employee time.97Cost of Air ServicesFor business aircraft, this is the cost of the aircraft for this trip, all legs included. This number can be determined by one of three user-selected methods.• Travel$ense automatically calculates the amount of flight time enroutegiven the distance between the specified city pairs and the performancedefined for the aircraft and multiplies the flight time (takeoff totouchdown) by the cost per flight hour for the aircraft defined.Travel$ense uses this method if cost per flight hour is selected in theaircraft database for the aircraft used in the column. Leg dead time and onethird of refueling time is deducted from the enroute time shown withinTravel$ense.Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
