TRAVEL$ENSECHAPTER 2. NEW FEATURES IN RELEASE 3In response to the needs of Travel$ense users, many new features and ease-ofuseimprovements have been added, including the following:INTERNET ACCESS TO AIRLINE DATARelease 3 can obtain airline data over any Internet (TCP/IP) connection, be iton a network or via modem. Your connection may be via corporate proxyserver (firewall), which typically requires no setup at all within Travel$ense. Aslong as the computer you use can access the Internet with a standard browser,Travel$ense can use this connection to obtain airline data. You do not need amodem connected to your computer or an account on CompuServe as wasthe case with Releases 1 and 2. There is no additional cost related to usingTravel$ense via an existing Internet connection. You may choose to continue using a modem to access either the Internet orCompuServe. Direct CompuServe access to the airline reservation systemtypically provides faster response times and more consistent access to thereservation system. For more information see Setting Up Online Connection to Airline Data onpage 18.MEETINGS DEFINED FROM TRIP SCHEDULEThe concept of explicitly scheduled meetings is new in Release 3. Prior versionsused the leg flight schedule, adding and subtracting drive time, processing timeand optional “extra site time” to arrive at an inferred meeting beginning andend. This limited each leg to one meeting.Release 3 now analyzes the passenger manifest and leg schedule and createsmeetings for each group of people on each leg. You can edit these meetings, deleting or adding new ones via the Review Meetings Schedule screen, whichreplaces the Release 1 and 2 trip schedule review screen. Meetings can be setto start the next morning if passengers arrive late the previous night. Drivetime now is associated with the meeting and thus is easily altered for allpassengers attending the meeting. “Enroute meetings” are now possible, whereattendees meet with other passengers only on the aircraft and do not attendany site meetings. For more information, see Review Meetings Created by Travel$ense on page78.AIRLINE COMPARISONS CAN BE RUN FOR PAST TRIPSRelease 3 of Travel$ense has the ability to create airline comparisons for tripsthat already have occurred. Travel$ense can automatically “time-shift” past trips9Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
