198BUSINESS HOURSTRAVEL$ENSE<strong>Travel$ense</strong> defines business hours dynamically, calculating business hoursseparately for each trip by averaging the passengers’ declared business hours.Business hours are defined separately for Monday to Friday, Saturday andSunday. Business weeks per year also are defined to enable calculation of a costper hour for each passenger.EMPLOYEE TIME COSTThe cost of travel time, on a given leg or all legs, calculated at the individualpassenger level, based upon their hourly cost to the company during thebusiness day, with additional cost added for time after hours if the company haselected to value employee travel time after hours. This time only considersdoor-to-door travel time, not the productivity of other times such as site time.FARE CODEThe one letter (two letters for some night flights, e.g. YN) code associated witha flight that permits you to book on that flight with a fare basis (not shown in<strong>Travel$ense</strong>, multi-letter code designating a fare) that uses that fare code.Usually the fare code is the first letter of the fare basis. For nondiscountedtravel, codes such as F (first class), Y (economy), B (one-way fare) commonly areused. The code has no general meaning and varies by airline, route and overtime. A number of different codes (e.g., A) may permit you to sit in the firstclass cabin and may be returned when pricing in F.NON-BUSINESS HOURSAll time that falls outside of the business hours defined for each individualpassenger. This definition includes separate times for Monday to Friday, Saturdayand Sunday. This time only is valued if the default setting for non-business hoursis greater than zero, and then only during travel time. All non-business hoursare counted and reported, without valuation, on Tab 4 for all parts of a trip, including travel time, overnights and extra time on site.NON-BUSINESS HOURS AWAY FROM HOME SAVEDThe total amount (for all passengers) of time away from home saved bytraveling via the aircraft defined in columns one and two versus the airlines (incolumn three). It is calculated individually for each passenger and then totaled.Business hours begin and end on an individual, per passenger basis as defined inthe passenger database. The Non-Business Hour Travel Time Valuation has noeffect on this tally. Non-Business Hours spent on the road still consumespersonal time – time away from home that otherwise would be spent withfamily or on other, non-business activities.Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
