TRAVEL$ENSEPurposeOutcomeHypothetical. For the column 1 to 3 options the names will adjust based uponthe column labels set your default settings. For more information, see ColumnLabels and Default Aircraft on page 26.This optional feature is useful to sort trips for summary reporting (betweenuser-defined start/end dates) by trip category. One use is to store trips takenby airline and print a separate analysis of this on the Summary Report to see ifadditional aircraft would be justified.The Trip Type default is Hypothetical. If you select an option that doesn’t applyto the trip it will be changed to Flown by Column 1 Aircraft and you will beadvised (e.g. Flown by Column 2 Aircraft picked for a trip with one businessaircraft selected).The mission of a trip – its purpose and anticipated outcome – is criticallyimportant to the perceived value of business travel and business aircraft. Thecost of a trip in addition to its strategic value to a company must be weighedbefore the use of an aircraft can be approved. Consequently the definedpurpose and outcome of a trip is deserving of equal or greater considerationthan its cost to a company.Substantial user effort should be devoted to careful completion of these fields.In the cost/benefit analysis of business aircraft use, this field represents at leasthalf of the equation.The trip purpose is characterized here in general terms or general categories.Although <strong>Travel$ense</strong> ships with a dozen or so suggested purposes, users candefine their own categories or alter an existing one to meet their needs. Toadd, delete or alter the list of trip purposes, select Profiles from the drop downmenu.The trip outcome is the anticipated benefit of the trip listed in a descriptive,trip-specific string of text that quickly and briefly describes the trip mission.This may be written pre-trip and revised post-trip to reflect the trip outcomemore accurately or the results that were gained by this trip.
