By comparing the increment ofperformance change for each type of business aircraft with the performanceincrement for scheduled airline travel, the degree of enhancement in overallperformance realized from the use of business aircraft was computed on apercentage basis. The professionals estimated that turboprop transportation represented anerosion of 15 percent in mental capability and physical stamina (rating of 85percent out of 100) compared to an erosion of 22 percent for scheduled airlinetravel (rating of 78 percent out of 100 ). Of course, these estimates may varyby aircraft, passenger, rank within the company and many other factors. Usersof Travel$ense should define their own estimates. A recent survey of topmanagement suggested that the differential between productivity aboard airlineaircraft and business aircraft may be closer to 40 percent.Whereas actual psychological and physical measurements would provide aquantitative result in more detail, quantifications used in this report represent asubstantially conservative analysis. To determine the financial equivalent of the benefits resulting from enhancedmental and physical performance capabilities when traveling by business aircraft,we assumed that the seven elements described above would permit thebusiness aircraft traveler to complete the work assigned for the sample fourhourmeeting in a shorter time than one who had made the trip by scheduledairline service. The time required for the airline traveler to conduct the samework was calculated from the enhancement factor described in the nextsection.ENROUTE WORK ACCOMPLISHMENTMost business and professional persons utilize travel time for completingpaperwork and/or report reading in varying degrees according to personalinclinations and motivation.
