TRAVEL$ENSECHAPTER 3. INSTALLATION AND SETUP13Overview of SetupThere are five main steps to getting <strong>Travel$ense</strong> operational.System Requirements1. Install <strong>Travel$ense</strong>, following the user prompts displayed during theinstallation routine. For new installations of <strong>Travel$ense</strong>, see NewInstallation on on page 14. If you are upgrading from an earlier releaseof <strong>Travel$ense</strong>, see Upgrading from Release 1 or 2 on page 15.2. Setup your online connection settings to indicate whether you willobtain airline data via the Internet or CompuServe. For moreinformation, see Setting Up Online Connection to Airline Data on page18.3. Customize <strong>Travel$ense</strong>’s default settings to your company. These arecritical and facilitate management “buy-in” to the program as they helpdefine the program’s results. For detailed descriptions of <strong>Travel$ense</strong>defaults and how to adjust them, see Default Settings on page 25.4. Install your company’s aircraft and passengers into <strong>Travel$ense</strong>’sprofiles. For detailed information on working with <strong>Travel$ense</strong> profiles,see Profiles in <strong>Travel$ense</strong> on page 47.5. Register for a free account with the online airline reservation system.You will be asked to do so, once, when running your first <strong>Travel$ense</strong>trip. For more information, see Registering with the AirlineReservation System on page 23.To ensure that <strong>Travel$ense</strong> runs successfully, please ensure that your computersystem meets the following requirements:• 32-bit Windows operating system (Windows 95, Windows 98 orWindows NT). <strong>Travel$ense</strong> Release 3 does not run under OS/2,Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.11. It may run on other platforms withprograms that emulate Windows 95 (VirtualPC or SoftWindows95 on aPowerMac).• Pentium-class processor with at least 32 <strong>MB</strong> of RAM. Additional RAM isrecommended, particularly with Windows NT. A fast Pentium II processorwill be useful when running more complex trips (six plus legs, manypassengers).• 20 <strong>MB</strong> of free disk space to install, and 10 to 15 KB per trip saved.• Minimum 800 by 600 screen (SVGA) resolution.Minimum 800 by 600 screen (SVGA) resolution.
