84Airline Ticket PricingTRAVEL$ENSEOnce highest scored flights for all legs have been selected and automaticallymoved to the Selected Trip by Leg box, Travel$ense begins the pricing processaccording to the new Pricing Mode default settings. For more information see,Airline Pricing Mode on page 40.The “automatic” mode first submits a real-time pricing query to the CRS to getthe price type(s) you have selected in the default settings. This may include fullfare coach (Y), first class (F) and lowest available fares for the newly definedtrip. This process actually prepares to purchase a ticket and relies on thereservation system’s own pricing software to obtain the current price.Should the combination airlines not be priceable (e.g. Southwest combinedwith anyone else) via the reservation system software, Travel$ense will use farelookup mode to get appropriate fares based on current seat availability for theflights selected.Should you select multiple fares to obtain, after pricing is complete you wouldthen select the fare type you wish to use for the trip. At any time later you canclick on “Get Fares” and get new fare types or re-price existing fares at thethen currently applicable price.Travel$ense operates with real-time data; if tickets are not available in any ofthe classes due to a sold-out condition, Travel$ense will try the lowest fare forthat trip (if not already pricing Lowest Fare). Depending on your Pricing Modedefault setting, Travel$ense then may attempt to price to one alternate trip thatprovides site time and avoids the flight(s) where a problem occurred orTravel$ense may use fare lookup to obtain fares.Lowest available fare means lowest available fare for the itinerary priced.Cheaper tickets on other flights may be available. Please remember, however, that “the cheapest trip” may not result in the least expensive travel option tripwhen all travel costs are considered (enroute time, unproductive connectingtime, being late for meeting, etc.). Travel$ense clearly demonstrates thatselecting airline flights based purely on cost ignores most of the real costconsiderations of business travel.Multiple Comparable Airline TripsFor a complex multi-mission trip, or a business aircraft trip that stops in citiessimply to pick up or drop off passengers, many airline trips may be necessary toget passengers where they need to be.Travel$ense automatically can create upto 10 comparable airline trips based onthe business aircraft trip schedule andthe passenger manifest. A simple example is a two-leg trip with one passengerCopyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
