For thebusiness aircraft user, the ground travel time is reduced to approximately onehour.Such values will vary, of course, according to the itineraries flown by theassigned business aircraft. They can be determined by individual analyses usingthe same techniques of focusing upon each element of the alternative airlineschedules.TIME SAVINGS FROM IMPROVED RELIABILITYAdditional time savings, which frequently are gained from greater flexibility offlight operations available to business aircraft, can be exploited to minimize oravoid arrival delays or cancellations under adverse circumstances.Frequently, travelers on business aircraft can enjoy a substantial advantagebecause of flexibility in operating patterns, when delays caused by weather orair traffic congestion slow commercial service. In addition to enroute flexibility, business aircraft have the freedom to requestchanges in destination airports in many major traffic areas, thereby minimizingserious delays. For example, in the New York City area, a business flight canhave the choice of a number of alternate airports, thereby providing theopportunities to work around local weather disturbances. In the case study of the cost benefits of one corporation’s business aircraftoperations, an estimated average increase in flight delays of 15 minutes perarrival for scheduled airline operations was used in calculating the aggregatesavings in personnel trip time for business aircraft users.
