TRAVEL$ENSErepresentative of travel patterns. Be sure to use it only when setting a startingand ending date that captures all of the trips you have run during that period. The first statistic, Nights Away From Home Saved, can not otherwise becalculated from any of the output of Travel$ense and is unique to this report. This calculation is done at the individual trip level within a given trip. In otherwords, for each group of passengers doing the same thing, a unique airline tripis defined and a separate comparison of time saved is made. The total isaccumulated trip by trip for all trips within the time limits.A night away from home is saved when the airline passenger must either leavethe day before or return the following day. Date differences are ignored if thetime is otherwise within four hours (e.g. 11:00 p.m. versus 1:00 a.m. the nextday). Since Travel$ense statistics are unbiased, based only on user-definedassumptions, negative nights away are possible (e.g. airline leaves a day later orreturns a day earlier).117The second statistic, Business Days Saved, also is computed at an individual levelwithin each trip, separately for each group of passengers. For simplicity, itconsiders differences in leave home and return home time relative to thedefault business hours starting and ending times and days. The total businesshours saved is divided by nine to obtain business days saved. These extra days inthe office might translate into extra business aircraft trips and consequentlyadditional opportunities for the company. The Personal Summary ReportThe Personal Summary Report presents a powerful case for how much time, both during business hours and outside, that the business aircraft has saved anindividual over the time period considered in the report. Such a reportpresented to an executive on an annual basis provides proof at a personal levelof what the business aircraft has accomplished. In addition to trip-by-trip listingsof time saved and totals, the same Nights Away From Home and Business DaysSaved used in the Summary Report is presented at the bottom, along withannual projections.Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
