154TRAVEL$ENSEEven the businessperson who doubles as pilot of the company’s single-enginebusiness aircraft has the advantage of enroute isolation (once the gear is up andlocal traffic is left behind) to think out a pitch to a prospective customer orreflect upon the response received from a customer after a personalized visit.The effort of making the flight to see a customer is one that in itself tellscustomers they are important.ENHANCEMENT OF CUSTOMER RELATIONSOne of the most significant and least publicized contributions of businessaircraft operations is to the development of customer relationships. The abilityto assist a customer, or a potential customer, with his transportation needs canprovide a significant boost in relationships. Customer transportation needsinclude:• transportation to and/or from a sales promotion, industry symposium,trade show, professional seminar, or other related event,• attendance at an event sponsored by the business aircraft owner, such as avisit to the factory or business facility, to which selected attendance can beencouraged by availability of business aircraft transportation,• an emergency transportation need for whatever reason.There are several reasons why customer-relation uses of business aircraft arenot highly publicized. Principally, successful users of business aircraft do notwish to publicize their programs to their competitors.Business aircraft can assist managers in their jobs in a way that often can’t beduplicated by other means.ATTRACTION AND RETENTION OF KEY PERSONNELAvailability of business aircraft to employees helps attract and retain keypersonnel for several reasons.Success-oriented personnel recognize that their ability to accomplish objectiveswill be influenced substantially by the tools put at their disposal.Forward-thinking executives and professionals know that based uponconsiderations of mental alertness and physical stamina preservation, they willbe aided substantially in their level of achievement by the availability of businessaircraft.An effectively utilized business aircraft fleet is a hallmark of success.
