Because a typicalbusiness aircraft airport and a commercially served airline airport may bedifferent, this field may require distinctly different drive times.DRIVE TIME FROM AIRPORTDrive Time from Airport is the average amount of travel time in minutes, timedfrom the point passengers leave airport property until they arrive at thedestination (home/office/site). Enter default time estimates separately forbusiness aircraft and airline airport to account for (usually) different drive timesfrom a business aircraft airport FBO or hangar versus from a commercial airlineairport/terminal to the destination. Because a typical business aircraft airportand a commercially served airline airport may be different, this field may requiredistinctly different drive times.PROCESSING TIME – DEPARTUREAt-Airport Passenger Processing Time (departure) begins when passengersarrive on airport property and ends when they walk onto the aircraft fordeparture.For airline airports, this time includes items such as:airport parking, traveling tothe terminal, arriving at check-in counter, checking in and baggage check,walking to the security barrier, clearing security, walking to the airplane gate,and waiting to board.For business aircraft airports, this time includes: FBO/hangar parking, walkinginto the FBO or hangar, waiting for other passengers and loading and boardingthe aircraft.In many cases, this travel time will show the largest difference betweencorporate and airline default times, given the substantial time needed toprepare for airline departure.PROCESSING TIME – ARRIVALAt-Airport Passenger Processing Time (arrival) begins when passengers walk offthe aircraft at the arrival airport and ends when they leave arrival airportproperty.For airline airports, this time includes items such as walking from the gate tothe baggage claim, waiting to claim baggage, traveling to parking lots anddeparting the airport property.For business aircraft airports, this time includes: walking from the aircraft to theFBO/hangar, continuing to parking and departing the airport property.Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
