50productive can you be in an average or typical hour on thisparticular company aircraft?TRAVEL$ENSEAs potential enroute productivity varies by aircraft, you should adjust thisproductivity on a case-by-case basis. In Release 1 of Travel$ense, it was assumed that passenger productivity aboardbusiness aircraft could not exceed 100 percent. However, in a Louis Harris poll, business aircraft passengers indicated that they often are more productive in atypical hour on a company plane then in a typical hour in the office. Onaverage, passengers said they were 124 percent productive onboard companyjets and 104 percent productive on company turboprops. To reflect this data, Release 3 allows users to set productivity enrouteanywhere between 0% and 250%. In all cases the leg dead time is subtractedequally from the beginning and end of each flight before calculating productivity.ChargebacksThis section of the Aircraft Profiles is used to calculate the cost of air servicesfor the business aircraft. Costs can be edited manually for each trip, but ideally, setting appropriate values for these fields would minimize the need to do so.COST TYPEYou may select one of the four chargeback costing methods available:• Cost per Flight Hour• Cost per Statute Mile• Cost per Nautical Mile• Cost per Passenger per Nautical MileCOST PER UNITThis provide the per unit cost in U.S. dollars for the cost type selected.FIXED COST PER LEGWith this options field, you can add a fixed cost in U.S. dollar s, which will beadded for each leg of a trip. This may apply specifically when comparing charteroptions.PerformanceThe performance data determine the enroute times (and consequently costs)for a business aircraft in Travel$ense. Calculations are based on Great Circledistance only. Travel$ense does not take into account other factors such asCopyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
