Fixed costs are determinedby summing all expenses incurred and dividing by hours/miles/passenger milesto get the fixed cost per hour/per mile/per passenger mile.Direct operating costs are determined by the following process. Total allreceipts for:• Maintenance• Consumables• Inspections already performedDivide by the hours, miles or passenger miles flown in the period covered byreceipts. Divide each anticipated cost for the following by hours, miles, orpassenger miles flown between each anticipated cost. Each of these figures willbe added together to determine the cost per hour/mile/passenger mile for the“Replacement Fund”• Overhauls• Replacements• Future inspections• Any other future itemThe sum of the items above is the direct operating cost per hour, mile, orpassenger mile for the aircraft.FIXED COSTSFixed costs are incurred whether the aircraft is flying or not.
