TRAVEL$ENSETrip StatisticsTravel$ense generates trip statistics incidental to every trip which can be, ineffect, powerful practical measures of a trip. These statistics are the average ofall passengers who may be beginning and ending their trip in different legs.107Average Leave Home (Departure) Time/DateThis is the average passenger departure time from home/office site – inessence, when the average passenger walks out the door to begin a trip on Leg1. It takes into account drive time to the airport and so is intended to be agenuine departure time. Because it is averaged from all passenger data, usersshould be careful to generalize that this is the time a specific passenger mustleave. It may be, but it also may be early or late as it is an average of allpassengers on Leg 1 of this trip. With passengers starting their trip in differentlegs, this may reflect an average of different days and thus not reflect at all whenthose on Leg 1 left home. It is a useful comparison across travel options. If theairline leaves an hour earlier then you know that on average – not for anyspecific passenger – the business aircraft saved an hour at the start of the trip.Average Return Home Time/DateThis is the average passenger return time to home/office site – in essence, when the average passenger walks back in the door at the end of a trip (on itsfinal leg). It takes into account drive time from the airport and so is intended tobe a genuine return time. Because it is averaged from all passenger data, usersshould be careful to generalize that this is the time a specific passenger shouldreturn. It may be, but it also may be early or late as it is an average of allpassengers on the last leg of this trip.Average Ground Travel TimeThis is the average for all passengers of amount of time spent traveling door todoor not in the aircraft for all legs. It includes drive time to and from theairport, terminal time and layover time between flights. It does not includelayover time for direct (same airplane, one stop) flights, which Travel$enseignores for technical reasons.Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
