TRAVEL$ENSE• Certainty – A company that uses business aviation controls all aspects ofits air travel, including the visibility of its employees on sensitive missions.Some of the intangible benefits of business aviation – enhancedmanagement productivity and better customer relations – may be difficultto quantify but are no less significant to a company than direct financialreturns on investment.<strong>NBAA</strong>’s Role in Business AviationThe National Business Aviation Association, Inc. (<strong>NBAA</strong>), established in 1947, isdedicated to increasing the safety, efficiency and acceptance of business aviation.The Association fosters an environment in which general aviation aircraft flownin support of commerce are recognized as important business tools thatcontribute to economic growth.<strong>NBAA</strong> represents the interests of more than 5,900 Member Companies thatown, operate, or support approximately 7,600 general aviation aircraft used asan aid to the conduct of their business. <strong>NBAA</strong> Member Companies employmore than 16 million people worldwide and earn annual revenues in excess of$3 trillion – a figure that is equal to about half the U.S. gross domestic product.For more than four decades, <strong>NBAA</strong> has been the primary representative ofbusiness aviation before Federal, state and local government. The interests andviews of the business aviation community are communicated to Congress, theExecutive Branch, regulatory agencies (such as the Federal AviationAdministration, the Internal Revenue Service and others), and state and localauthorities by the <strong>NBAA</strong> Government & Public Affairs Department inconjunction with the <strong>NBAA</strong> Operations Department.Through its Operations Department and Standing Committees, composed ofStaff and Member Company representatives, <strong>NBAA</strong> also participates in majoraviation industry forums that focus on issues such as air traffic procedures,weather, air navigation, charting, airspace access, hazards to aviation,aeronautical frequency use, aircraft equipment specifications and performancestandards.Another duty of the <strong>NBAA</strong> Operations Department is to support the dailyflying activities of Member Companies by providing technical expertise and upto-dateinformation on safety, air traffic, noise, maintenance, international traveland other important issues and regulations that affect the use of MemberCompany aircraft. Information is conveyed directly by <strong>NBAA</strong> Staff or through avariety of technical publications, such as the International Operations Bulletin,Maintenance and Operations Bulletin and Alert Bulletins, and through <strong>NBAA</strong>’sWeb site at www.nbaa.org.<strong>NBAA</strong> also offers seminars, conferences, workshops and forums that focus onspecific job functions of corporate flight departments.
