TROUBLESHOOTINGTRAVEL$ENSEMODEM DOES NOT SEEM TO DIALIf your modem is not dialing, first check that it is on and assigned to the COMport stored on the Online Communication Settings screen. <strong>Travel$ense</strong> can nottell whether the modem has dialed or not and will simply report that it wasnot connected to CompuServe within 60 seconds. Check the modem speakeror monitor your phone line to see if <strong>Travel$ense</strong> is dialing the CompuServeaccess phone number. Alternately, set the baud rate to 9,600 with no initializestring and try again.If your modem really is not dialing, then the initialization string is causing anerror and you need a different initialization string. Delete everything from theinitialization box and try again. First turn your modem on and off or use anycommunications software to reset an internal modem (the modem commandstring ATH is hang-up, AT&F usually resets your modem, check your modemuser guide for specific instructions).Next, check WinCIM or similar Windows software for a suggested initializationstring. See the communications chapter for more details on setting up yourmodem. Before calling technical support confirm that you can dial the modemproperly with other Windows software (Windows Terminal is supplied withWindows 3.1/3.11 in the Accessories Group, HyperTerminal with Windows 95).ALL FLIGHTS HAVE INVALID ELAPSED TIMESYour reservation system account likely is using a 24-hour time format.<strong>Travel$ense</strong> usually resets your account for you. To obtain a new account, clearout the reservation system User ID and Password fields on theCommunications Settings screen (telephone button on the toolbar), click“OK,” and then do a new trip. <strong>Travel$ense</strong> should automatically get a newaccount for you.ERROR DURING QUERY<strong>Travel$ense</strong> will usually need to abort the query. You should click on “Clear” toerase any partial results, “Cancel” to return to Tab 1 and then click on “GetFares” to start again. In rare cases the reservation system and <strong>Travel$ense</strong> areout of synch, in which case you will need to click on Disconnect and then clickon “Get Fares” to establish a new connection and redo the trip pricing.AFTER HOURS BUSINESS TRIPS<strong>Travel$ense</strong> schedules airline travel to meet site time objectives of thecorporate aircraft. This by definition does not include non-business hours.
