v. A person often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities,

vi. a person often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require

sustain mental effort, vii. a person often loses things necessary for tasks or activities,

viii. a person often easily distracted by extraneous stimuli, ix. a person often forgetful

in daily activities.

Whereas the second set of criteria involves at least 6 behaviors including

hyperactivity such as:

i. a person often fidgets with or taps hands or feet or squirms in seat,

ii. a person leaves seat in situations when remaining seated is expected,

iii. a person often runs about or climbs in situations where it is inappropriate,

iv. a person often unable to play or engage in leisure activities quietly,

v. a person often “on the go”, acting as if “driven by a motor”,

vi. a person often talks excessively,

vii. a person often blurts out an answer before a question has been completed,

viii. a person often has difficulty waiting his or her turn,

ix. a person often interrupts or intrudes on others.

Some children might suffer from “combined type” if they meet both sets of

criteria for at least 6 months. Researchers estimate the mean of prevalence of ADHD

around the world at 5.29%., but the ranges of ADHD’s prevalence rates vary widely

by country and region of the world. (Polancyzk, de Lima, Horta, Biederman, & Rohde,

2007). It is clear that children who experience this disorder can face many challenges.

According toWilens, Faraone&Biederman (2004), children who have ADHD may
