Development <strong>of</strong> competence in applying the ideas <strong>of</strong> probability and statistical<br />
inference to problems in business administration; mathematical models in<br />
business, regression analysis, elementary considerations <strong>of</strong> game theory, timeseries<br />
analysis. Prerequisite: one year <strong>of</strong> college mathematics; BS 232, BS<br />

Finance and Business Environment<br />
THE PROGRAM <strong>of</strong>fered by the Department <strong>of</strong> Finance and Business Environment<br />
is designed to prepare students for careers in the basic fields <strong>of</strong> domestic<br />
and foreign finance and managerial economics. The courses provide a fundamental<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> the application <strong>of</strong> economic analysis to the solution <strong>of</strong> problems<br />
<strong>of</strong> business management and <strong>of</strong> business finance and financial institutions, with<br />
special attention to the relation <strong>of</strong> financial policies and operations to the functioning<br />
<strong>of</strong> the economic system as a whole.<br />
The department <strong>of</strong>fers six major options: banking, investments, finance management,<br />
international business, business economics, and business education.<br />
Banking. The option in banking is designed to 'prepare students for careers<br />
in banks and related financial institutions. The major requirements, in addition to<br />
