Architecture and Allied Arts<br />

Ion Lewis Scholarship in Architecture. A $2,000 traveling scholarship<br />

is awarded, when funds are available, to advanced students in architecture at the<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oregon</strong>. Award is made on the basis <strong>of</strong> character, ability, promise,<br />

and need <strong>of</strong> travel. The scholarship is supported by a trust fund established by<br />

the late Ion Lewis <strong>of</strong> Portland, <strong>Oregon</strong>.<br />

Ina McClung Art Scholarships. Several scholarships <strong>of</strong> varying amounts up<br />

to $500 are awarded annually to students in the School <strong>of</strong> Architecture and Allied<br />

Arts from the income <strong>of</strong> an endowment established by Mrs. Katherine H. Mc­<br />

Clung. The scholarships are named in memory <strong>of</strong> the late Miss Ina McClung,<br />

Class <strong>of</strong> '95.<br />

Ellen M. Pennell Scholarships. Several scholarships, covering regular fees,<br />

are awarded for a term or a year to students in the School <strong>of</strong> Architecture and<br />

Allied Arts. They are endowed through a bequest from Mrs. Ellen M. Pennell,<br />

for many years a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> Library staff.<br />

Women's Architectural League Scholarship. A $250 scholarship, supported<br />

by the Women's Architectural League, is awarded annually to a student <strong>of</strong> architecture,<br />

preferably from the Portland, <strong>Oregon</strong> vicinity.<br />

Business Administration<br />

Autzen Foundation Scholarship. The Autzen Foundation provides an annual<br />

award <strong>of</strong> $500 to an upper-division student in business administration. The<br />

award is made on the basis <strong>of</strong> scholarship, qualities <strong>of</strong> leadership, and probable<br />

success in a business career.<br />

Eppstein Scholarship for Insurance Education. An annual $200 scholarship<br />

is awarded to a business-administration major in the field <strong>of</strong> insurance. The scholarship<br />

is a memorial to the late Arthur M. Eppstein, and is supported through a<br />

gift from agents <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Oregon</strong> Automobile Insurance Company, <strong>of</strong> wh:ch 11r.<br />

Eppstein was president. The award is made on the basis <strong>of</strong> scholarship, need,<br />

character, and pr<strong>of</strong>essional aptitude for work in property and casualty insurance.<br />

Eugene-Lane County Insurance Agents Scholarship. A $250 scholarship<br />

is awarded annually to a business-administration major specializing in the field <strong>of</strong><br />

insurance, who plans to make his career in property and casualty insurance. Funds<br />

for the scholarship are provided by the Eugene-Lane County Association <strong>of</strong><br />

Insurance Agents.<br />

Haskins and Sells Scholarship. A $500 scholarship "to stimulate higher<br />

academic achievement on the part <strong>of</strong> students majoring in accounting, and to enrourage<br />

promising students to major in this field" is awarded annually to an<br />

accounting student from funds provided by the Haskins and Sells Foundatic.l.<br />

Haskins and Sells Teaching Fellowship in Accounting. A $1,000 fellowship<br />

is awarded each year by the Haskins and Sells foundation to a grad'.late student<br />

preparing for a career in college teaching <strong>of</strong> accounting. For eligibility. an<br />

applicant should have completed the requirements for a master's degree.<br />

Insurance Society Scholarship. A $200 scholarship is awarded annually to<br />

a student in the School <strong>of</strong> Business Administration majoring in risk and insurance.<br />

Funds are provided by the Insurance Society.<br />

Republic Carloading and Distributing Company Scholarship. The Republic<br />

Carloading and Distributing Company awards annually a $300 scholarship to an<br />

entering freshman student planning to major in the field <strong>of</strong> traffic management and
