Advanced secretarial instruction; general secretarial duties, responsibilities,<br />

and procedures; different methods <strong>of</strong> duplicating; filing systems and their<br />

practical application to business; training in the operation <strong>of</strong> voice-writing<br />

PIM 329. Production Management. 3 hours.<br />

The planning, operations, and control <strong>of</strong> mass-production manufacturing;<br />

procurement, handling, and control <strong>of</strong> materials and control <strong>of</strong> quantity and<br />

quality. Ways <strong>of</strong> setting standards and improving methods; use <strong>of</strong> motion and<br />

time study; automation and automatic processing equipment. Supervision <strong>of</strong><br />

operating employees and personnel relations as they affect production work.<br />

Emphasis on principles and relationships rather than specific techniques. Laboratory<br />

sessions (including field trips) illustrate selected methods, techniques.<br />

The interdependence <strong>of</strong> the different departments <strong>of</strong> a business concern. Designed<br />

to provide an integrated view <strong>of</strong> business operations, and to coordinate<br />
