The dance program for children in the elementary school, grades one through<br />
six. Locomotor and nonlocomotor movement; dramatization and creative<br />
dance studies; singing games; traditional dance skills and folk dances for<br />
children <strong>of</strong> the intermediate grades. Offered alternate years. Munson.<br />
PE 251. Introduction to the Dance. 2 hours fall.<br />
An overview <strong>of</strong> the dance. Introduction to dance history and to the significance<br />
<strong>of</strong> dance as an art form. Dougherty.<br />
PE 252. Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> Rhythm. 2 hours spring.<br />
Rhythm as a basic factor for movement. Rhythmic devices used in the dance.<br />
Notation and rhythmic analysis. OffeI'ed alternate years.<br />
