Educational Administration<br />

THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION <strong>of</strong>fers a full graduate program in educational<br />

administration, including: (I) all work required for each <strong>of</strong> the five types <strong>of</strong><br />

administrative certificates issued by the <strong>Oregon</strong> State Department <strong>of</strong> Education;<br />

(2) graduate programs leading to master's and doctor's degrees; and (3) a<br />

special two-year graduate program which satisfies the membership requirements<br />

<strong>of</strong> the American Association <strong>of</strong> School Administrators, including work in related<br />

disciplines, especially the social sciences, and a systematic field experience<br />

or internship.<br />

By act <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Oregon</strong> Legislature, all persons employed in the <strong>Oregon</strong> public<br />

schools in administrative or supervisory capacities must hold an appropriate administrative<br />

certificate. The requirements for the several administrative certificates<br />

are as follows:<br />

Superintendent's Certificate. (1) A regular <strong>Oregon</strong> teacher's certificate,<br />

either elementary or secondary. (2) Five years <strong>of</strong> school experience at the elementary<br />

and secondary levels, with at least two years in an administrative capacity<br />

and at least two years in a teaching capacity. (3) A master's degree from a standard<br />

college or university. (4) Twelve term hours <strong>of</strong> credit, beyond the master's<br />

degree, in pr<strong>of</strong>essional or nonpr<strong>of</strong>essional studies at the upper-division or graduate<br />
