Regular Fees*<br />
Undergraduate Students. Undergraduate students who are residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oregon</strong><br />
and who are enrolled for a total <strong>of</strong> 8 term hours <strong>of</strong> work or more during<br />
the regular academic year pay tuition and fees totaling $142.00 a term or $426.00<br />
for the three-term academic year.<br />
Undergraduate students who are not residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>Oregon</strong> and who are<br />
enrolled for a total <strong>of</strong> 8 term hours <strong>of</strong> work or more during the regular academic<br />
year pay, in addition, a nonresident fee <strong>of</strong> $190.00 a term, or a total <strong>of</strong> $332.00<br />
a term or $996.00 for the three-term academic year. For regulations governing<br />
the assessment <strong>of</strong> the nonresident fee, see pages 77-78.<br />
Graduate Students. Graduate students enrolled for a total <strong>of</strong> 8 term hours<br />
<strong>of</strong> work or more pay tuition and fees totaling $142.00 a term; students employed<br />
as graduate or research assistants or fellows pay a reduced fee <strong>of</strong> $32.00 a term.<br />
Graduate students do not pay a nonresident fee.<br />
Fee-Remission Scholarships. A limited number <strong>of</strong> fee-remission scholarships<br />
covering a portion <strong>of</strong> regular fees are available for resident and nonresident<br />
students. See pages 88-89.<br />
Part-Time Students. Undergraduate or graduate students who enroll for 7<br />
term hours <strong>of</strong> work or less pay a special part-time fee (see SPECIAL FEES, below).<br />
Deposits<br />
All persons who enroll for academic credit (except staff members) must make<br />
a deposit <strong>of</strong> $15.00, payable once each year at the time <strong>of</strong> first registration. The<br />
deposit is required for protection <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> against loss or damage <strong>of</strong> institutional<br />
property such as dormitory and laboratory equipment, military uniforms,<br />
Library books, and locker keys, and against failure to pay promptly nominal fines<br />
and assessments, such as Library fines, campus traffic fines, and Health Service<br />
charges. If at any time charges against this deposit become excessive, the student<br />
may be called upon to re-establish the original amount.<br />
Special Fees<br />
The following special fees are paid by <strong>University</strong> students under the conditions<br />
indicated:<br />
Part-Time Fee per term $35.50 to $124.25<br />
Students (undergraduate or graduate) who enroll for 7 term hours <strong>of</strong> work or less<br />
pay, instead <strong>of</strong> regular registration fees, a part-time fee in accordance with the following<br />
scale: 1·2 term hours, $35.50; 3 term hours, $53.25; 4 term hours, $71.00;<br />
5 term hours, $88.75; 6 term hours, $106.50; 7 term hours, $124.25. Students enrolled<br />
for 7 term hours or less do not pay the nonresident fee. Payment <strong>of</strong> the part-time fee<br />
entitles the student to all services maintained by the <strong>University</strong> for the benefit <strong>of</strong><br />
students.<br />
Staff Fee per term hour, $3.00<br />
With the approval <strong>of</strong> the President's Office, staff members enrolled in <strong>University</strong><br />
courses pay a special staff fee <strong>of</strong> $3.00 per term hour. Full·time staff members (aca·<br />
demic or civil service) may enroll under this fee for a limited amount <strong>of</strong> work for<br />
credit, generally for not more than 3 term hours <strong>of</strong> work in any term; staff members<br />
employed half·time or more, but less than full·time, may enroll under this fee for a<br />
maximum <strong>of</strong> 10 term hours <strong>of</strong> work.<br />
Auditor's Fee per term, $35.50 to $142.00<br />
An auditor is a person who has obtained permission to attend classes without receiving<br />
academic credit; such a person is not considered an enrolled student. Auditors attend-<br />
