transportation in the School <strong>of</strong> Business Administration. The scholarship is renewable<br />
each year until the student's graduation, provided he maintains a satisfactory<br />
academic record.<br />
Edward T. Stelle Memorial Scholarship. A $150 scholarship named in<br />
honor <strong>of</strong> the late Edward T. Stelle is awarded annually to an outstanding student<br />
majoring in finance.<br />
Weyerhaeuser Fellowship. The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
a $2,000 fellowship to outstanding graduate students in business administration.<br />
The award is made through the Forest Industries Management Center to encourage<br />
advanced pr<strong>of</strong>essional training for this field. Special consideration is given to<br />
students who have a background <strong>of</strong> technical studies or related employment experience.<br />
Journalism<br />
Crown Zellerbach Scholarship. Two $500 scholarships are awarded annually<br />
by the Crown Zellerbach Foundation to upper-division students majoring in<br />
journalism. Scholarship, character, and journalistic ability are the major criteria<br />
for selection; financial need is not a criterion. Candidates must be United States<br />
citizens and preferably residents <strong>of</strong> the Pacific Northwest.<br />
Eugene Advertising Club Scholarship. A $200 scholarship is given annually<br />
by the Eugene Advertising Club to an undergraduate journalism major whose<br />
field <strong>of</strong> emphasis is advertising. Criteria for selection are scholarship, ability, character,<br />
and need. Preference is given to Lane County, <strong>Oregon</strong> students.<br />
Eugene Register-Guard Allen Scholarships. Two $500 scholarships are<br />
awarded annually by the Eugene Register-Guard to journalism students, on the<br />
basis <strong>of</strong> scholastic achievement, journalistic ability, and financial need. Candidates<br />
must intend to make newspaper work their career. The scholarships are named<br />
in memory <strong>of</strong> Eric W. Allen, first dean <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> Journalism and member<br />
<strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> faculty from 1912 until his death in 1944.<br />
Howard Hillis Scholarship. A $300 scholarship, named in honor <strong>of</strong> Howard<br />
Hillis, is awarded annually to a freshman student who intends to major in journalism.<br />
Funds for the scholarship are provided by the <strong>Oregon</strong> Scholastic Press<br />
and friends <strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> Journalism.<br />
Mainwaring Memorial Scholarship. The family <strong>of</strong> the late Bernard Mainwaring,<br />
editor and publisher <strong>of</strong> the Salem Capital Journal, awards annually a $300<br />
fee scholarship to a student majoring in journalism in the news-editorial or newspaper<br />
management field. Scholarship, character, and contribution to the OREGON<br />
DAILY EMERALD are the bases for the selection.<br />
<strong>Oregon</strong> Industrial Advertising Scholarship. A $300 scholarship is awarded<br />
annually by the <strong>Oregon</strong> chapter <strong>of</strong> the Association <strong>of</strong> Industrial Advertisers to<br />
all undergraduate journalism major planning a career in advertising, whose<br />
scholastic record, demonstrated ability in advertising, and character warrant a<br />
high expectancy <strong>of</strong> success in and contribution to the field.<br />
<strong>Oregon</strong> Newspaper Publishers Association Scholarships. Six or more<br />
scholarships, ranging from $100 to $200, are provided through the Journalism<br />
Scholarship Fund <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Oregon</strong> Newspaper Publishers Association. The scholarships<br />
are awarded by the School <strong>of</strong> Journalism faculty to journalism majors or<br />
premajors who intend to enter the newspaper field.<br />
<strong>Oregon</strong> Scholastic Press Scholarships. From one to four $200 scholarships<br />
are awarded annually to freshman students intending to major in journalism, from
