c. The monitor test system board shall be the motherboard that is the rear panel of the<br />

housing, shall provide a mounting for all internal <strong>and</strong> external connectors <strong>and</strong> shall<br />

provide the interconnecting wiring. The external connectors shall be:<br />

1) Wire-in compression screw terminal that provides access to all 64 audio<br />

inputs with 192 individual screw terminals <strong>and</strong> three additional terminals for<br />

access to the audio line output.<br />

2) The AC line connector which shall be a st<strong>and</strong>ard 3 pin male European style<br />

socket;<br />

3) Two each 37 pin sub D connectors that shall provide access to the<br />

controlling computer <strong>and</strong> to other components in the EIA- 422 circuit.<br />

a) Up to 255 monitor/test systems shall be able to be linked together per<br />

intercommunications port on the monitor-test system.<br />

T. Microphone Stations<br />

1. Each microphone station shall originate announcements into zone groups as detailed in<br />

the floor plans <strong>and</strong> public address system drawings.<br />

2. Any microphone station shall be capable of being programmed into any zone group.<br />

3. Microphone stations shall be capable, if so programmed, of making emergency zone<br />

group announcements, terminal zone group announcements, local zone group<br />

announcements, <strong>and</strong> multi-local group announcements.<br />

4. If programmed, microphone stations shall also be capable of performing any or all of the<br />

control functions of prerecorded messages. These control functions shall include<br />

initiating a playback sequence, interrupting a playback sequence, recording a message,<br />

monitoring a message, or playing back a message to its own multi local zone group, or to<br />

a terminal zone group instead of to the zone map assigned to that message.<br />

5. Microphone stations shall include a h<strong>and</strong>-held, push-to-talk microphone. Each<br />

microphone station shall have buttons for zone group selection to activate that<br />

microphone station for announcements into pre-programmed zones. Each station shall<br />

contain its own microphone preamplifier, limiter/compressor, <strong>and</strong> line amplifier with<br />

balanced output. Each microphone station will be provided complete with cut-outs <strong>and</strong><br />

mounting hardware for microphone stations mounted in furniture, fixtures, equipment, or<br />

structure.<br />

a. A green ‘READY’ LED shall illuminate when the desired portion of the system is<br />

ready for the announcement.<br />

b. After the green LED is illuminated, any 5 second pause in the announcement<br />

whether before, during or at the end of the announcement, will terminate the<br />

announcement.<br />

c. A red ‘BUSY’ LED on the microphone station shall indicate when the portion of<br />

the system requested is busy.<br />
