Scope of Services Draft
3.8.12. All material references on drawings shall match exactly a single material
reference in the Specifications with an unquestionably unique term that can
apply to only one Specification reference. Let us restate this in case it wasn’t
clear: All material references on drawings shall have an identical unique
heading in a Specification section that defines that item.
3.8.13. Specification headings that are terms used as material references on
drawings shall be underlined in the Specification. No other specification
headings or terms shall be underlined.
3.9. Contract Drawings:
3.9.1. All Contract Drawings shall be produced using either AutoCAD or
MicroStation CAD. Translated drawings from other CAD applications are not
acceptable.
3.9.2. Absolutely no hand drawn work will be acceptable for Contract Drawings.
3.9.3. No revisions, no matter how minor will be allowed to be made by hand to
CAD produced Contract Drawings during any submittal cycle, including inprogress
submittals. This point cannot be overemphasized; experience
shows that the dreaded disappearing drawing item is a frequent result due to
a failure to observe this common sense restriction.
3.9.4. The scales used must allow for clear comprehendible drawings in all
disciplines. Airport facilities are notoriously complex with many tightly packed
areas containing scads of systems. Carefully select a scale that will serve all
disciplines, not just the architectural. Subdivide systems into separate series
of plans in order to achieve clarity. Use key plans when floor plans are
matched over more than one sheet.
3.9.5. All fonts, line styles, color tables, etc. shall be as originally supplied with the
CAD program. Customization of the program defaults shall be limited only to
those necessary to prepare the Contract Drawings. Any such custom
libraries, color or pen tables, shall be supplied to the City and all
Subconsultants, and shall be used consistently in the preparation of all
Contract Drawings, including those of all Subconsultants.
3.9.6. Drawings shall be fully legible in half size plots or reductions.
3.9.7. All lettering to be in upper case only.
3.9.8. A standard drawing sheet size title block and necessary title block data will be
agreed to by the City and the DB based on City required data and DB input.
A simplified sheet layout may be proposed for presentation drawings. If
approved it will be expected to be used consistently for all presentation
material. The City’s approval of the Contract and Presentation sheet layout is
required before the submittal of any drawings.
3.9.9. A standard Contract Drawing Package Title Sheet will be agreed to by the
City and the DB based on City required data and DB input.
3.9.10. Specification information should not be allowed on the Contract Drawings, not
even in tables or schedules. This is considered poor practice and is a
common cause of conflicts and misinformation.
3.9.11. Material references on Contract Drawings shall match the exact language
used in the Specification. The only exception is that Contract Drawing
