a) Return system smoke detectors shall not be required where the entire space<br />

served by the air distribution system is protected by a system of area<br />

smoke detectors.<br />

3) Smoke detectors shall not be required for fan units whose sole function is to<br />

remove air from the inside of the building to the outside of the building.<br />

4) Smoke <strong>and</strong> combination Smoke/Fire Dampers.<br />

a) Duct smoke detectors not required for dampers where the entire space<br />

served by the smoke damper is protected by a system of area smoke<br />

detectors.<br />

5) Remote LED’s w/ test stations shall be provided for all duct detectors located<br />

above ceilings or out of sight.<br />

e. Heat Detectors shall be added as follows:<br />

1) Elevator Machine Rooms<br />

2) Elevator Shafts if required per code.<br />

3) Non-Residential Kitchens with smoke producing equipment.<br />

4) Trash Rooms<br />

f. Sprinkler tamper <strong>and</strong> waterflow switches shall be individually monitored as follows:<br />

1) Provide one (1) supervisory module circuit for each sprinkler valve supervisory<br />

<strong>and</strong> waterflow switch.<br />

2) Tamper switches in fire pump room only may be grouped together as allowed<br />

per coded.<br />

g. Vesda LaserPlus Detector shall be provided per plans as required.<br />

3. Notifications Appliances<br />

a. All notification appliances shall be new.<br />

b. Speakers shall be added as follow:<br />

1) Shall be added throughout public <strong>and</strong> private spaces to achieve 15db above<br />

ambient as needed to maintain intelligibility in all areas during paging <strong>and</strong> meet<br />

current code requirements.<br />

2) Elevator Cabs <strong>and</strong> Stairwells for Paging Only.<br />

3) Elevator Lobbies<br />

4) Corridors<br />

5) Rooms <strong>and</strong> tenant spaces exceeding 1,000 square feet.<br />

6) Public Restrooms for intelligibility during paging.<br />

c. Strobes shall be added as follows:<br />

1) Restrooms <strong>and</strong> Similar Uses: Public, Staff, locker rooms <strong>and</strong> dressing rooms.<br />

2) Corridor System <strong>and</strong> Similar Uses: Public, Staff <strong>and</strong> Service Corridors,<br />

Vestibules <strong>and</strong> Passageways.<br />
