The 2008 <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Electrical Code is based upon the 2007 California<br />

Electrical Code (which is based upon the 2005 National Electrical Code) with<br />

2008 LA City Amendments.<br />

The 2008 <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Mechanical Code is based upon the 2007 California<br />

Mechanical Code (which is based upon the 2006 Uniform Mechanical Code) with<br />

2008 LA City Amendments.<br />

The 2008 <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Plumbing Code - is based upon the 2007 California<br />

Plumbing Code (which is based upon the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code) with<br />

2008 LA City Amendments.<br />

Accessibility Requirements: All plans shall comply with the City of <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> Title 24, California Code of Accessibility Regulations in conjunction with the<br />

American with Disabilities Act (ADA) <strong>and</strong> ANSI 117.1.<br />

Other applicable codes may include but are not limited to:<br />

The California Retail Food Code – Part 7 of the California Health <strong>and</strong> Safety<br />

Code, effective January 1, 2009.<br />

Retail <strong>Construction</strong> Guidelines as issued by the County of <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong>,<br />

Department of Environmental Health.<br />

The <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Industrial Waste Control Ordinance – Section 64.30 of the<br />

<strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Municipal Code.<br />

2010 California Green Building St<strong>and</strong>ards Code – otherwise known as the<br />

CALGreen Code that is in effect as of January 2011.<br />

The Plan Check Submittal – As part of the overall project process, the <strong>Design</strong>er will be<br />

required to submit drawings to LADBS for plan check approval. Please read the section<br />

on the LAWA Review Process to underst<strong>and</strong> the relationship between LADBS plan<br />

check approval <strong>and</strong> the LAWA Project Review Process.<br />

Special Conditions – For projects within the City of <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> special conditions may<br />

apply, including but not limited to:<br />

<strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Research Report Numbers: All building, electrical <strong>and</strong> mechanical<br />

products, either existing or new, including kitchen equipment, dishwashers, coffee<br />

makers, water purifiers, etc., that are specified for projects within the City of <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong><br />

are required to have a <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Research Number. These numbers shall be listed on<br />

the drawings submitted for plan check. For a list of approved products for the City of <strong>Los</strong><br />

<strong>Angeles</strong> refer to http://netinfo.ladbs.org/rreports.nsf.<br />

Industrial Waste Permit - All Food Service Establishments (FSE) that generate waste<br />

Fats, Oils <strong>and</strong> Grease (FOG) are required to obtain an Industrial Wastewater Permit<br />

from the City of <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong>. Such a permit is issued by the <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Department of<br />

<strong>Design</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Construction</strong> H<strong>and</strong>book<br />
