D. Polyethylene Enclosures<br />

1. Polyethylene Enclosures: Enclosures constructed with polyethylene that<br />

completely enclose the work area above from the top of the barricades<br />

to the ceiling above shall be provided <strong>and</strong> installed to contain the entire<br />

work area <strong>and</strong> prevent dust migration to areas outside the work space.<br />

Polyethylene Enclosure support framework shall be capable of<br />

supporting .5 psf applied over the entire surface of each side,<br />

separately.<br />

2. Polyethylene sheeting shall be white in color <strong>and</strong> at least 6-mil<br />

thickness. Exterior sheeting exposed to Public view shall be installed on<br />

the outside of the support framework to cover the framework. Sheeting<br />

shall be used in widths selected to minimize the frequency of joints. All<br />

polyethylene sheeting used shall be fire retardant <strong>and</strong> meet City of <strong>Los</strong><br />

<strong>Angeles</strong> Fire Department requirements.<br />

3. Polyethylene sheeting shall be secured continuously at the top of the<br />

barricade <strong>and</strong> continuously at the deck or soffit above the barricade with<br />

fire-rated tape, preferably white in color. Joints between polyethylene<br />

sheets shall be securely taped, <strong>and</strong> there shall be no wrinkles or<br />

puckers. One type of tape shall be used for all enclosures. Sheeting <strong>and</strong><br />

tape samples shall be submitted for approval by the Airport Contact<br />

prior to installation.<br />

4. The use of Polyethylene Enclosures shall be minimized except as<br />

required for dust control or as directed by the Airport Contact.<br />

1.31.5 Temporary Signage for Barricades<br />

Install <strong>and</strong> maintain all temporary signage <strong>and</strong> messaging at all construction<br />

barricade locations as long as the barricades are in place to help direct<br />

passenger traffic around work areas <strong>and</strong> to alternate paths of travel.<br />

A. Temporary Signage<br />

1. General Requirements<br />

a) All barricade signage (messaging <strong>and</strong> directional/wayfinding)<br />

provided shall be professionally produced <strong>and</strong> provided by<br />

Praxis Integrated Communications (Praxis), 213-689-0800.<br />

b) Contractor shall post all required safety <strong>and</strong> notification<br />

signage on the barricade doors.<br />

c) All barricades in public spaces <strong>and</strong> visible to the traveling<br />

public shall be covered in LAWA approved messaging per<br />

Article C of this Section.<br />

d) Wooden barricades shall maintain a clean coat of “Pantone<br />

1205 yellow/cream” paint (sample to be furnished upon request)<br />

at all locations where wooden barricades are not wrapped<br />

immediately upon erection.<br />
