SECTION 14 20 00 − VERTICAL TRANSPORTATION, GENERAL<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.1 SUMMARY<br />

A. This Section includes vertical transportation for the entire project. The vertical transportation<br />

work includes, but is not limited to the, following:<br />

1. All elevator work.<br />

2. All escalator work.<br />

3. All moving walk work.<br />

4. Anchors, embedments, shims, fasteners, inserts, hoisting equipment, fall<br />

protection/prevention tie-offs, expansion devices, accessories, support brackets, hoist<br />

beams, temporary work platforms, backing <strong>and</strong> attachments for the above.<br />

5. All testing for the above.<br />

6. CCTV, security system, <strong>and</strong> BMS components will be incorporated into the vertical<br />

transportation work. Coordinate with the CCTV, security system, <strong>and</strong> BMS component<br />

contractors to incorporate CCTV, security system, <strong>and</strong> BMS components <strong>and</strong> interface<br />

requirements during the course of the Work.<br />

NOTE: During any retrofit, LAWA is to be provided the opportunity to identify any parts<br />

they deem beneficial for use at another LAWA location. The <strong>Design</strong> Professional <strong>and</strong> Contractor<br />

shall work directly with LAWA staff, to identify any salvageable parts <strong>and</strong> their respective<br />

h<strong>and</strong>ling requirements.<br />

B. Related work specified elsewhere includes, but is not limited to, the following:<br />

1. Elevator Hoistway <strong>and</strong> Pit:<br />

a. Clear, plumb, substantially flush hoistway with variations not to exceed 1" at any<br />

point.<br />

b. Bevel cants not less than 75° from the horizontal on any rear or side wall ledges<br />

<strong>and</strong> beams that project or recess 2" or more into the hoistway. Not required on<br />

hoistway divider beams.<br />

c. Divider beams between adjacent elevators at each floor, pit, <strong>and</strong> overhead.<br />

Supports at each floor for car <strong>and</strong> counterweight guide rail fastening including<br />

supports for car guide rail fastening above top l<strong>and</strong>ing. Intermediate car guide rail<br />

support when floor heights exceed 14'-0" or as designated on contract drawings.<br />

Intermediate counterweight guide rail supports where floor heights exceed 16'-0".<br />

Provide rail bracket supports as required to meet Code required bracket spacing<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or Installer needs. Building supports not to deflect in excess of 1/8" under<br />

normal conditions, 1/4" under applicable seismic conditions.<br />

d. Continuous vertical car <strong>and</strong> counterweight guide rail support between floors shown<br />

on Contract documents full height of hoistway.<br />
