or other characteristics, including durability, finish, efficiency, dimensions, service,<br />

<strong>and</strong> suitability are such that the item will fulfill its intended function.<br />

D. Test methods shall be subject to the approval of the Engineer. Test results shall be<br />

reported promptly to the Engineer, who will evaluate the results <strong>and</strong> determine if the<br />

substitute item is equivalent. The Engineer’s findings shall be final. Installation <strong>and</strong><br />

use of a substitute item shall not be made until approved by the Engineer.<br />

E. If a substitute offered by the Contractor is not found to be equal to the specified<br />

material, the Contractor shall furnish <strong>and</strong> install the specified material.<br />

F. The specified Contract completion time shall not be affected by any circumstance<br />

developing from the provisions of this subsection.<br />

WEIGHING AND METERING EQUIPMENT<br />

A. Scales <strong>and</strong> metering equipment used for proportioning materials shall be inspected<br />

for accuracy <strong>and</strong> certified within the past 12 months by the State of California Bureau<br />

of Weights <strong>and</strong> Measures, by the County Director or Sealer of Weights <strong>and</strong><br />

Measures, or by a scale mechanic registered with or licensed by the County<br />

B. The accuracy of the work of a scale service agency, except as stated herein, shall<br />

meet the st<strong>and</strong>ards of the Business <strong>and</strong> Professions Code <strong>and</strong> the Code of<br />

Regulations pertaining to weighing devices. A Certificate of Compliance shall be<br />

presented, prior to operation, to the Engineer for approval <strong>and</strong> shall be renewed<br />

whenever required by the Engineer at no cost to LAWA.<br />

C. Scales shall be arranged so they may be read easily from the operator’s platform or<br />

area. They shall indicate the true net weight without the application of any factor. The<br />

figures of the scales shall be clearly legible. Scales shall be accurate to within 1<br />

percent when tested with the plant shut down. Weighing equipment shall be so<br />

insulated against vibration or moving of other operating equipment in the plant area<br />

that the error in weighing with the entire plant running will not exceed 2 percent for<br />

any setting nor 1.5 percent for any batch.<br />

FINAL INSPECTION<br />

At the completion of Work, after completion of all corrections, the Inspector, Engineer,<br />

<strong>Design</strong>er, Architect, <strong>Construction</strong> & Maintenance, <strong>and</strong> Contractor will make a final<br />

inspection, as applicable. The Inspector will provide a Final Inspection Correction List<br />

itemizing all Work necessary to complete the Project satisfactorily.<br />

1.31.11 LAWA Furnished Materials<br />

Materials Furnished by LAWA<br />

A. Upon receiving material furnished by the LAWA for storage or installation in the<br />

Work, the Contractor shall give a signed receipt to the Airport Contact for the<br />

material delivered. Thereafter the Contractor shall be responsible for the care<br />

<strong>and</strong> necessary replacement of such material if damaged.<br />
