Construction Restrictions for the Protection of the Nominated Object and
Their Effects

§ 8
The Protection of Cultural Monuments
in General
(1) Without approval by the authority in
charge of the protection of cultural
monuments a registered cultural
monument must not
1. be destroyed or eliminated
2. be diminished in its appearance
These construction restrictions apply to
all cultural monuments marked as § 2 in
Enclosure A 5 (constructional
monuments) and to the cultural
monuments included in Enclosure A 8.
These are marked purple on maps 3 &
11 of Enclosure A 12.
§ 15
Effects of Registration
(in the Book of Monuments)
(1) Without approval by the authority in
charge of the protection of cultural
monuments a registered cultural
monument must not
1. be re-erected or restored
2. be altered in its appearance or
substance
3. be completed with extensions or
superstructures or inscriptions of a
general or commercial nature
(3) Also approval has to be sought for the
erection, alteration or elimination of
objects in the environs of a registered
cultural monument if and as far as these
environs are considered of substantial
value to the monument. Approval for
other projects has to be sought if these
projects include a change of the former
land-use. Approval has to be granted if
the project will diminish the appearance
of the monument temporarily or in minor
ways only or if public interest inevitably
calls for the approval.
These additional (extended)
construction restrictions apply to all the
cultural monuments marked as § 12 in
Enclosure A 5.
Prescription on the Protection
of Parts of the Landscape on the
Island of Reichenau
dated March 3 rd 1954
§2
(1) Within the boundaries of the parts of the
landscape defined in §1 any alterations
are prohibited that could cause damage to
nature, diminish its beauty or disfigure
the overall impression of the landscape.
(2) To avoid the damaging effects
enumerated in paragraph 1 it is
expressively prohibited to:
a) erect buildings of any kind, even
those that under other circumstances
would not afford approval by the
