Die Radio-Station »Voice of Palestine« kämpft täglich
mit der schwierigen Arbeitssituation im Gaza-Streifen.
Die Mitarbeiter des Senders vertreten die offizielle
Meinung der palästinensischen Regierung. Während
die Reporter auf den Straßen und in Krankenhäusern
Interviews führen und Berichte über Bombardements
liefern, macht man sich im Sender Gedanken
darüber, ob die Berichterstattung zu israelischen Interventionen
führen wird.
Ein halbes Jahr nach Abschluss des Films zerstörte die
israelische Armee im Dezember 2001 die Sendeanlagen,
im Januar 2002 wurde auch das Redaktionsgebäude
durch Sprengungen unbrauchbar gemacht.
A portrait of the radio station »Voice of Palestine«. In
the direct style of a news account, Rashid Masharawi
reports on the difficult circumstances in which the
broadcaster has to operate from day to day. A staff
member emphasises that »Voice of Palestine«, the official
mouthpiece of the regime, is the only station in
the world that can convince the world of the Palestinian
standpoint. The reporters hit the streets and interview
people in a hospital. Meanwhile, in the studio,
the strange quiet of an office prevails. While reports of
bombardments come in, staff members discuss the
question of whether the choice of subject might lead
to Israeli retaliatory measures. When there is a sudden
power failure during a live broadcast, people react
nervously.

Rashid Masharawi
Geboren 1962 im Gaza-Streifen. Aufgewachsen
in einem Flüchtlingslager.
Begann mit 18 Jahren in der Filmindustrie
zu arbeiten. Gründete 1996 ein
eigenes Produktions- und Verleihunternehmen.
