Eine Geschichte des privaten Blicks. Geschichten hinter
der Geschichte – erzählt von 39 Film-Amateuren
des 20. Jahrhunderts. Augenblicke und Momente, für
immer bewahrt: die Seele des Films. Nicht zur Veröffentlichung
bestimmt und unzensiert, sind die privaten
Dokumente authentischer als jede Wochenschau,
intimer als jedes inszenierte Spiel und dabei oft so
bizarr wie kein Szenarium. Für seine Hommage an das
Kino der Liebhaber hat Michael Kuball Filmtagebücher
aus den Jahren 1900 bis 1980 zusammengetragen
und die Amateure gebeten, ihre Aufnahmen
selbst zu kommentieren. Das Ergebnis ist eine Geschichte
des Alltags – ein Stück kollektive Erinnerung.
During the 20th Century, dozens of amateur filmmakers
have filmed their lives in Europe. Their own
and the life of people around them, the time in which
they lived. Between 1900 and 1980, private film
archives have developed in almost every household
with an own cine camera. Archives that show moments
of spontaneity, uncontrolled gestures and impromptu
events. If access was gained to these film
collections, then life can be observed as it was lived,
straightforward and face to face: The everyday life of
the Twenties, weekend trips and outings of the Thirties,
the ordinary war of the Fourties and the celebrations
of the post war years. We see private films of
Marie Curie in Paris and of Sigmund Freud in Vienna,
films of the concentration camp’s baker in Dachau and
of soldiers fighting at the frontlines. In the Sixties an
amateur filmmaker watches the Beatles shooting Help
on location in England, while in Paris Maurice Le
Maitre filmed the uprising youth in May 1968. But not
only men had cameras. In the Seventies lady amateur
filmmaker Maomi Neven DuMont continuously shot
on Super-8 her Hippie life.

Francisco Art Institute. Mitbegründer
des Hamburger Filmbüro e.V., des Verbandes
deutscher Nachwuchsfilm e.V.
und der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dokumentarfilm.
1986 bis 1988 Dozent für
Visuelle Medien an der Universität
Hamburg. 1990 gründete er zusammen
mit Alfred Behrens die La
Caméra Stylo Filmproduktion. 1997
Gründung der La Caméra Stylo Filmsammlung.
