The Gold Coinage.
We can now approach the gold issues of Gyrene.
As has been mentioned above, 83 the first Cyrenaic gold
coin was probably struck towards the close of the second
period ; it is a drachm of Samian weight, the same
weight as was employed for contemporary silver
drachms. Fairly soon in the next period we meet the
folio wing pieces, without magistrates' names, and mostly
ithout ethnics.

not very free, eye three-quarter face, pupil
marked.
