<strong>numismatic</strong>s, archaeology, <strong>and</strong> ancient history <strong>of</strong> South<br />

Arabia to <strong>the</strong> Journal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bombay Branch <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Koyal<br />

Asiatic <strong>Society</strong>. He had a fine collection <strong>of</strong> Oriental coins,<br />

particularly <strong>of</strong> South Arabia, <strong>the</strong> greater part <strong>of</strong> which is<br />

now in <strong>the</strong> British Museum.<br />

Mr. Bernard Koth, who died on <strong>the</strong> 26th March, had been<br />

a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> R. N. S. since 1896 <strong>and</strong> a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Council from 1912-14, being Vice-President in 1913. He<br />

had a fine collection <strong>of</strong> English coins <strong>and</strong> was a frequent<br />

exhibitor at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Society</strong>'s meetings. To <strong>the</strong> <strong>Numismatic</strong><br />

Chronicle he contributed three articles, viz. :<br />

A large Hoard <strong>of</strong> Coins <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Brigantes, 1908, pp. 17-55.<br />

A Unique Gold Stater <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Brigantes, 1909, pp. 7-9.<br />

A False Ancient British Coin, 1909, p. 430.<br />

He was also an active member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> British <strong>Numismatic</strong><br />

<strong>Society</strong>, being for some years<br />

a Vice-President. To <strong>the</strong><br />

British <strong>Numismatic</strong> Journal he contributed <strong>the</strong> following<br />

Ancient Gaulish Coins, including those <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Channel Isl<strong>and</strong>s ; IX,<br />

1-80.<br />

Mr. H. A. Eamsden <strong>of</strong> Yokohama had been a Fellow <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Society</strong> since 1902. He was <strong>the</strong> greatest authority<br />

on <strong>the</strong> coins <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Far East, combining in a remarkable<br />

way <strong>the</strong> traditional knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> East with <strong>the</strong> critical<br />

ability <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> West. A sad interest attaches to <strong>the</strong> account<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> coinage <strong>of</strong> Lin-Tzu from his pen, which appears in<br />

<strong>the</strong> present volume <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Numismatic</strong> Chronicle, from <strong>the</strong>
