To Paphos, at this time third in importance of the
cities of Cyprus, Hill has attributed an Alexander
tetradrachm (No. 1) signed with the flying dove of
Aphrodite and two Cypriote letters. As he shows, 26
this coin must have been struck in Alexander's life-
time; I would go further, and place it very early
