rebellious issue by a regal. Fur<strong>the</strong>r, this special series<br />

with various, sometimes local, types <strong>and</strong> a local denomination,<br />

224 st<strong>and</strong>s isolated in <strong>the</strong> <strong>numismatic</strong>s <strong>of</strong><br />

Ptolemaic Cyrenaica <strong>and</strong> points to special circumstances.<br />

<strong>The</strong> most obvious occasion for it would be <strong>the</strong> recon-<br />

quest <strong>and</strong> reorganization <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> district after <strong>the</strong> KOLVOV<br />

from <strong>the</strong> beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reign <strong>of</strong> Ptolemy III <strong>and</strong><br />

Berenice II onwards. <strong>The</strong> policy <strong>of</strong> reconciliation<br />

suggested by <strong>the</strong> rebuilding <strong>of</strong> Berenice would thus<br />

be shown again in this issue <strong>of</strong> definitely regal yet<br />

definitely Cyrenaic money.<br />

95-115 grains, most being about 107 grains. To judge by style,<br />

<strong>the</strong> tetradrachm <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same types, symbol silphium, in <strong>the</strong> Dattari<br />

here also.<br />
