Course Structure (1 990 syllabus)<br />

Structure of degree course<br />

The degree course consists of seven academic semesters at<br />

<strong>Swinburne</strong> and two semesters in industry.<br />

In the third and fourth years, students spend one semester of<br />

each year at <strong>Swinburne</strong> and the remainder working in<br />

industry. Employment is arranged by <strong>Swinburne</strong> and<br />

students receive a salary approximately two-thirds of that of<br />

a graduate engineer. Students benefit greatly from this firsthand<br />

industrial experience and liaison is maintained between<br />

mentor, employer and student.<br />

The fifth year, which consists of only one eighteen week<br />

semester, is spent at <strong>Swinburne</strong>.
