Assessment:<br />

a statement referring staff and<br />

students to the assessment and<br />

appeals procedures;<br />

a statement advising students<br />

with special needs to advise the<br />

Divisional office (if they have<br />

not already done so) as well as<br />

the subject convener - refer to<br />

section 9;<br />

a statement of what is required<br />

to pass the subject;<br />

details for each piece of<br />

assessment (scheduled handout<br />

and deadline dates, format,<br />

contribution towards final mark,<br />

presentation requirements);<br />

~enalties for late submission:<br />

Lxtensions (grounds for, how to<br />

apply, etc.).<br />

7.5.6 make available written information<br />

regarding such requirements for<br />

inspection in the appropriate<br />

Division/School office;<br />

7.5.7 be satisfied as to the appropriateness<br />

by, or for, the Convener under<br />

7.5.8 determine whether electronic<br />

calculators and/or computers may<br />

may be used and whether or not the<br />

examination supervisors shall<br />

indicate on a candidate's<br />

examination script that a calculator/<br />

computer has been used;<br />

7.6 The Convener of the subject panel shall,<br />

subject to these procedures:<br />

7.6.1 a) ensure that the Examinations<br />

Officer is notified in writinp. of<br />

the form of assessment to be<br />

used for the subject each<br />

semester;<br />

b) specify, if necessary, which<br />

calculators and/or computers<br />

may be used in the<br />

examinations; and<br />

c) list such books, notes and other<br />

materials which may be taken<br />

into the examination room for<br />

use during an examination.<br />

ensure that the Awarding School<br />

gives approval before a dictionary of<br />

any sort may be used in an<br />

examination. The Examinations<br />

Officer must be notified before the<br />

commencement of the examination<br />

period;<br />

ensure that the written statement as<br />

detailed in section 7.5.5 is distributed<br />

to students by the end of the second<br />

week of teaching;<br />

ensure that assessment for the<br />

subject is conducted;<br />

allocate and supervise the drafting of<br />

examination papers, tests and<br />

assignments as required by the<br />

subject panel;<br />

ensure that all examination papers<br />

submitted to the Examinations<br />

Officer and test papers for internal<br />

use are error-free prior to their issue<br />

to candidates;<br />

be empowered to require from the<br />

teaching staff responsible for writing<br />

or otherwise determining a part of<br />

the assessment, a statement of<br />

minimum qualities acceptable for<br />

assessment purposes;<br />

be present, or ensure that a nominee<br />

shall be present, in each examination<br />

room at the beginning of each<br />

examination in the subject to:<br />

a) answer any questions which<br />

may arise regarding the subject<br />

matter of the examination; and<br />

b) check each electronic calculator<br />

in the possession of a candidate<br />

to ensure that such instrument<br />

does not exceed the level of<br />

sophistication approved by the<br />

subject panel;<br />

ensure that examination and test<br />

scripts and other forms of<br />

assessment are promptly marked,<br />

and the results accurately recorded;<br />

ensure that marked assignments and<br />

other assessed materials are<br />

promptly returned to students;
