A Career potential<br />

The program is designed for people interested in the use<br />

5' and effects of training in the innovation process but will be<br />

of particular value to employees of organisations who have<br />

3: been charged with the responsibility of developing training<br />

interventions to support organisational change.<br />

z. The courses in the program cover four key aspects of<br />

design and development of training programs;<br />

administration and evaluation of training.<br />

R The program provides a sound theoretical base in all four<br />

" areas and the major proiects and exercises undertaken in<br />

the program wili provide the opportunity for participants<br />

to apply their learning to their own or other organisations.<br />

A tangible outcome of the program will be some actual<br />

training programs designed and detailed ready for<br />

implementation.<br />

The program provides for articulation of accredited<br />

subjects into higher level degree programs offered by the<br />

Centre for Innovation and Enterprise.<br />

Admission requirements<br />

Applicants should comply with one of the following:<br />

A first degree in any discipline and commitment by an<br />

employee to a task, role or project requiring skills in<br />

training; management.<br />

Applicants who lack a first degree may be admitted to<br />

the program at the considered discretion of the Head of<br />

the Division.<br />

Duration of the course<br />

The program is designed to be completed within one<br />

calendar year of commencement of the first subject.<br />

Subjects are block taught in a modular structure and the<br />

course is as follows:<br />

Psychology<br />

The course is offered as a one year full-time or two year<br />

part-time program. It is designed for students who have<br />

completed a first degree with a three-year major sequence<br />

of studies in psychology undertaken in a course (or<br />

courses) approved for this purpose by the Australian<br />

Psychological Society. The program is intended to<br />

complete students' foundation studies in psychology as a<br />

science and as a profession. The course is designed to<br />

prepare students to enter the profession by meeting the<br />

educational requirements for Associate Membership of Jle<br />

Australian Psychological Society.<br />

The course has the following objectives:<br />

to enable students to understand and apply the<br />

principles of social science which underlie the<br />

discipline of psychology;<br />

to enable students to acquire knowledge of the<br />

principles of social and behavioural science research<br />

design and analysis;<br />

to enable students to extend skills in formulating<br />

research problems, gathering and analysing data,<br />

interpreting and communicating research findings;<br />

to enable students to acquire advanced knowledge in<br />

selected topic areas within psychology and applied<br />

psychology, building upon and extending basic<br />

undergraduate preparation;<br />

to provide students with an understanding of the<br />

nature of psychology as a profession, the ethical,<br />

moral, legal and social responsibilities of the<br />

psychologist, and the role of the Australian<br />

Psychological Society;<br />

to prepare students for entry level work as<br />

psychologists-in-training under supervision in<br />

occupational fields such as applied social research, the<br />

human services, and human resources.
