mathematical and statistical techniques for solving problems<br />

in management science.<br />

Content<br />

Topics are selected from:<br />

Linear programming: simplex method, big M method, two<br />

phase method, duality, dual simplex method, sensitivity,<br />

revised simplex technique, bounded variables, parametic<br />

programming, decompisition, applications, use of computer<br />

packages such as SAS/OR, industrial applications.<br />

Markov chains and queueing theory: stochastic processes,<br />

Markov chains, applications in decision making. Queueing<br />

theory, transient and steady state, general Markov model.<br />

Application of simulation in queueing systems, practical<br />

applcations, use of computer package.<br />

The analysis of variance: revision of inference for two<br />

independent groups, analysis of variance. Non-parametric<br />

methods. Planned and unplanned comparisons.<br />

Multiple linear regression: review of linear regression with<br />

one predictor.<br />
