The subject covers four main areas of study.<br />

Management<br />

Organisation and management theory. Management<br />

problems in organisations and ways of dealing with them.<br />

Recruitment job specification and advertisem.ent. (56<br />

Industrial relations<br />

The structure of collective bargaining conciliation and<br />

arbitration machinery, the structure and operations of trade<br />

unions and employer association, and the associated<br />

problems. Legislation dealing with equal opportunity and<br />

Occupational Health and Safety Workplace reform.<br />

Structure of awards. (28 hours.)<br />

Contracts and specifications<br />

Types of contracts and contract documents. Relationship<br />

between conditions of contract, specifications, drawings and<br />

bill of quantities. Understanding and preparation of<br />

specifications. Administration and enforcement of contract.<br />

Measuring the materials and elements of a project.<br />
