11.5.7 Powers of the Assessment Conduct<br />

Appeals Committee<br />

The actions available to the<br />

Committee shall include:<br />

a) find the decision of the<br />

Assessment Conduct Committee<br />

roved and allow the ~enalty<br />

imposed by that committee<br />

stand;<br />

b) find the decision of the<br />

Assessment Conduct Committee<br />

proved but modify the penalty;<br />

c) find the decision of the<br />

Assessment Conduct Committee<br />

not proved and cancel the<br />

penalty imposed by it upon the<br />

student;<br />

d) find the decision of the<br />

Assessment Conduct Committee<br />

not proved and allow the<br />

student to submit further<br />

appropriate work should an<br />

action under c) not be sufficient<br />

to recompense the student<br />

academically;<br />

The decision of the Assessment<br />

Conduct Appeals Committee<br />

will be by a majority vote.<br />

11.5.8 Action<br />

a) The student shall be informed of<br />

the decision and reason for the<br />

decision of the Assessment<br />

Conduct Appeals Committee.<br />

Such written advice shall be<br />

mailed to the student's semester<br />

address shown in the<br />

University's records, within five<br />

working days of the<br />

Committee's decision being<br />

made.<br />

b) No further appeal against any<br />

decision is possible to any<br />

officer or body within the<br />

University.<br />

12. Results<br />

12.1 Result categories<br />

12.1.1 The following assessment categories<br />

will normally be used to record a<br />

student's performance in a subject:<br />

12.1.2 Where it is not appropriate for<br />

results in a subject to be issued<br />

through the full range of categories<br />

authorised by these procedures, two<br />

categories only shall be used:<br />

If this provision is used a statement<br />

shall be included in the published<br />

results to the effect that only one<br />

category of satisfactory achievement<br />

was awarded in the subject<br />

concerned.<br />

12.1.3 Where a student has passed a last<br />

subject to complete award<br />

supplementary examination granted<br />

pursuant to Section 15 below, SUP<br />

(Supplementary Assessment) will be<br />

entered on the system. The results<br />

of this examination will be recorded<br />

as follows:<br />

12.1.4 In courses in Arts, the following<br />

result, approved by Academic Board<br />

for use from first semester 1993,<br />

may be used to indicate that the<br />

student has passed the subject but<br />

may not proceed to a stage I, 2 or 3<br />

subject when the subject in which<br />

the PX result is awarded is a prerequisite.<br />
