Objectives and Content<br />
This subject is designed to introduce students to the Japanese<br />
language. Training is provided in grammar, writing, reading,<br />
conversation and listening comprehension. Films, slides and<br />
a variety of taped materials are used extensively throughout<br />
the course. As a further aid, taped cassettes of each lesson<br />
can be purchased. It is highly recommended that students<br />
enrolled in this subject also enrol for AJ102, offered in both<br />

This subject is a continuation of AJ103. It continues training<br />

Objectives and Content<br />
This subject consolidates students knowledge of basic<br />
grammar and extends the range of grammar patterns,<br />
Japanese characters and vocabulary acquired at VCE level. It<br />
also provides training in aural/oral skills appropriate to<br />
post-VCE competence level.<br />

Objectives and Content<br />
This subject introduces topics relevant to language and<br />
effective communication. It aims at acquainting students<br />
with the differences between English and Japanese<br />
communication patterns.<br />
Students are encouraged to establish contact with Japanese<br />
people and to use data collected from interviews with them<br />
in the writing of essays and research assignments. The<br />
contact scheme is an important component of this subject as<br />
it provides the student with the opportunity to converse in<br />
Japanese and to become familiar with Japanese attitudes and<br />
customs.<br />
