Errata Rule: Primary SourcesWhen you find a disagreement between two D&Drules sources, unless an official errata file saysotherwise, the primary source is correct. One exampleof a primary/secondary source is text takingprecedence over a table entry. An individual spelldescription takes precedence when the shortdescription in the beginning of the spells chapterdisagrees. A monster’s statistics block supersedes thedescriptive text.Another example of primary vs. secondary sourcesinvolves book and topic precedence. The Player’sHandbook, for example, gives all the rules for playingthe game, for PC races, and the base class descriptions. If you find something on one of those topics from theDungeon Master’s Guide or the Monster Manual thatdisagrees with the Player’s Handbook, you shouldassume the Player’s Handbook is the primary source. The Dungeon Master’s Guide is the primary source fortopics such as magic item descriptions, special materialconstruction rules, and so on. The Monster Manual isthe primary source for monster descriptions, templates, and supernatural, extraordinary, and spell-like abilities.Page 172: Genie, DaoRemove alter self from spell-like abilities.Add the following entry:Change Shape (Su): A dao can assume the form ofany Small, Medium, or Large humanoid or giant.Page 173: Genie, MaridRemove alter self from spell-like abilities.Add the following entry:Change Shape (Su): A marid can assume the form ofany Small, Medium, or Large humanoid or giant.Manual of the Planes ErrataManual of the Planes Errata 2/6/06 Version 02062006Page 1©2006 Wizards of the Coast, Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc.
