The portal is invisible from theMaterial Plane and looks like a white hole on the Planeof Shadow.As with the shadow walk spell, you must be in a regionof heavy shadows to cast shadowfade. The target cannot move through workedstone, brick, or metal. A move earth spell cast on an areacontaining a creature using xorn movement will fling thetarget back 30 feet and stun it for 1 round (a successfulFortitude save negates the stunning).The target of xorn movement is able to breathe normallywhile entombed in earth and natural rock.The xorn movement spell lasts a minimum of 1round/level. If the target has not emerged into a significantvolume of open air (a space large enough to containthe target comfortably) for the entire duration of thespell, xorn movement remains in effect until the targetdoes move into such as area. It is the mirror thatreflects the rest of your cosmology, and it is likelythe center of that universe as well.MATERIAL PLANE TRAITSThe Material Plane uses the rules in the D&D corerulebooks; it is a traditional fantasy world where thebasic laws of physics work like the players expectthem to. A typical Material Plane has the followingplanar traits:• Normal Gravity.• Normal Time: Indeed, all other planes set their clocksby the Material Plane.• Infinite Size.• Alterable Morphic.• No Elemental or Energy Traits: Specific localitiesmay be elemental- or energy-dominant, however.• Mildly Neutral-Aligned.• Normal Magic.You may alter the above traits to fit your cosmology, butthese are the defaults. In addition, the Material Planeusually has particular characteristics because it’sthe heart of your multiverse.The Material Plane is where all the other planestend to come together. It is made from the buildingblocks available on the Inner Planes, and it iswhere the great powers of the Outer Planes gaintheir worshipers and their strength. The MaterialPlane is usually connected to the Astral Plane,the Ethereal Plane, and the Plane of Shadow, andits natives are often extremely interested in visitingother planes.The Material Plane tends to be diverse in itscultures, climates, and inhabitants—muchmore so than any other plane. Just about everythingcan be found in one location or anotheron the Material Plane. The Material Planeexhibits great diversity because it is linked toso many other planes, and a vast array of creaturescalls the Material Plane home.But just because home is normal doesn’tmean it has to be boring.
